Rebekah Montcalmo, MBA
Chief Operations Officer & Partner
Rebekah is the Chief Operating Officer (COO) at Switchbridge, LLC where she oversees day-to-day operations, finance, human resources, and strategic partnerships. Her knowledge of the healthcare landscape paired with her desire to map unchartered paths is why Rebekah is an integral part of the Switchbridge leadership team.
Rebekah holds an MBA from Saint Joseph’s University, as well as an Executive Certificate in Innovation & Human-Centered Design from Johns Hopkins Carey School of Business. Her undergraduate degree is a BS in Healthcare Management.
Early in her career, Rebekah was a nationally licensed nursing home administrator and spent seven (7) years in long-term care working in small facilities and ending with a stint at HCR ManorCare where she ran a 200-bed facility outside of Philadelphia.
Despite her passion for helping elders, Rebekah transitioned to Academic Medicine to explore opportunities within operations and innovation design. Rebekah worked at Penn Medicine for 10 years in various roles, including practice redesign, capacity/ utilization analysis, and supporting the rollout of EPIC across hundreds of outpatient locations. With the opening of a new facility, Rebekah designed the new Executive Health program, and served as the Administrator for two (2) years before accepting the task of setting up a Value-based Care Unit for Penn. Her work here included collaborating with over 30 clinical specialties, tracking 1,200+ providers’ compliance, and reporting to CMS the attestations for Meaningful Use, PQRS, and e-Rx. Due to the success of this approach, Rebekah presented at EPICs national conference on best practices for implementing value-based care. Once this team was well established, Rebekah accepted a new Director role for the Center for Connected Health, where she created the initial structure for a telemedicine hub that encompasses the many disease-specific telemedicine efforts across the enterprise.
In 2016, an opportunity within the Johns Hopkins Innovation Unit opened-up that allowed her to move closer to family. There she spent the next five (5) years working on program design, collaborating with faculty on digital health, and expanding the offerings of programs offered outside the walls of a typical healthcare setting. Rebekah worked with large employers across the country to provide Johns Hopkins’ clinical programs within the workplace. This included such things as onsite clinics, mental health, and diabetes and cancer care navigation. This work was transformative, as it allowed for early intervention and mitigation of illness, when properly implemented.
The past several years Rebekah has done consulting for various start-ups, allowing her to exercise her skills in product creation and operational design for young companies. Rebekah’s desire to close gaps-in-care, and provide awareness, timely intervention, and care navigation to those who need it most, is a lifelong quest.
Outside of work you can find Rebekah enjoying time with her family, be it taking a day trip to explore a new town or enjoying an outdoor BBQ while watching the Phillies’ game. She loves gardening, baking from scratch, and taking long strolls with her dogs.
